The dates

So, here's the most important thing. Unless you are on a business trip to Guangzhou that has specific dates and schedules, you have the chance to select the dates of your tour, right? Consider the temperature levels (predicted weather conditions) when you are deciding on the dates. Also, see if any public holidays are coming up there. During the holidays, the city gets crowded with people, and you may not be able to explore it as you wish.

As soon as you decide on the dates, make your reservations. Don't wait until the last moment.

Accommodation

Since you know your period of the tour, why not make reservations at your hotel too? For the best experience, choose a hotel near Pearl River Guangzhou that offers great views and lets you enjoy the best authentic vibes as well. Oakwood Gold Arch Residence Guangzhou is one of the best options you have, and if you make your reservations in advance, you may also win a chance to save big through early bird discounts.

Getting around the city

Plan your route through the city. Guangzhou has a large metro system as well as public buses. For added convenience, consider using ride-sharing apps or taxis. Before you go, have an understanding of what you will be exploring during your stay (the attraction that you will be visiting), so that you can plan your routes accordingly.

The itinerary

As mentioned above, know what and what you will be covering during your trip. Canton Tower, Shamian Island, Chen Clan Ancestral Home and the Opera House are some of the main attractions you may explore in Guangzhou, and you may come across many more attractions (markets, shopping hubs etc) if you do some research online.

Know about the local cuisine

Explore the Cantonese cuisine of the region for a brand-new culinary experience. Dim sum, roast meats, and traditional snacks should not be forgotten and you may try many more new food varieties also. Explore popular local restaurants and street food markets to make your food memories even more exciting.

The language

Are you familiar with Mandarin? Well, then you won't face any struggle when dealing with the local vendors and people. Learn some basic words and phrases before you go, and you may find it helpful when you are there. Locals understand English, but Mandarin is always preferred. It is also recommended to keep a translation app with you.

What to pack?

There's nothing very special to be packed for your tour. Pack your clothes according to the season that will have to face in Guangzhou. If you are travelling with kids, make sure you pack some food that they are familiar with. Also, if you are on some medications, don't forget to take your prescriptions- in case of emergency.

Connecting with locals

It's always better if you know someone in Guangzhou before you go there. So try making some friends from Guangzhou through social media or any other platform. You can then know the current situations, climatic changes and any other information, and this can be very useful, especially if you are travelling to Guangzhou for the very first time.
